His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, often visited New Dvaraka, the Los Angeles ISKCON temple, and resided here for many months between 1970 and 1976. Srila Prabhupada's quarters are a tirtha, or holy place, consisting of three rooms accessed via a staircase which leads into the temple room.

In his sitting room (middle left), Srila Prabhupada would sit on a cushion at a low desk and translate Srimad-Bhagavatam, Caitanya-Caritamrta, and other scriptures, dictate letters, and meet with devotees and guests. His original desk, dictaphone, and world time clock are still here, along with a globe of the world which Srila Prabhupada would often spin and point to where a new temple would be.

In his bedroom (bottom left) is his bed with the original bed cover, his rocking chair, a small electric organ that he played, and his cane. A beautiful Deity of Lord Krishna, Lord Kartamasayi, stands next to the bed. Preserved in a glass case are various personal items - medicines, toiletries, oils, reading glasses, umbrella, gong and mallet, pens, a music box, and articles of clothing.

The third room, his library, is where Srila Prabhupada would receive his daily massage. He would sit underneath the skylight and move as the sun moved overhead. The bookcase has a variety of personal and Sanskrit books with commentaries by previous acaryas used in translating. Many kirtans and bhajans were recorded in this room and Srila Prabhupada's original harmonium is still here.
